April 8, 2020
Hi there, fellow Miss Fisher fans,
A lot of you have heard the news already, but we wanted to make sure you heard it directly from us. We are heartbroken to announce that we’ve decided to cancel the 2020 Miss Fisher Con. We could not see how our early July date would work, given the current travel restrictions and the projected timeline of getting past the peak of this pandemic. But we have every expectation of resuming Miss Fisher Con in 2021, and we hope that you will join us!
The Miss Fisher fan community is such a joy to us, and we know it’s the same for many of you - it’s our mission to support that community, and we will continue to do so to the best of our abilities. We are already thinking of other ways that we can use the technology that’s available to offer more online opportunities for our members to connect - our #LivingRoomPremieres event the day the movie began streaming was a great success, and we’d love to do more like that. We’re even hoping to work out some sort of smaller, less structured in-person meetups once travel is possible.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the 2020 committee - chair Mary Capule and her crew, Barbara Angel, Rachel McNeill, and Karen Phelps - for all of their hard work these past eight months.
For all of you who have already registered for the con, we’ll be in touch with next steps - we want to do right by you in what we know is a difficult time. For the rest of you, as always, we’ll be on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter, and you’ll hear from us through this newsletter. If you’re a member, join us on Slack for more fan conversation (and if you’re not a member, consider joining us!).
Thank you for believing in Miss Fisher Con, and in us.
