Whew, it’s been quite a busy couple of months here in the clubhouse. We have lots to tell you about!
Miss Fisher Con 2021 is on!
We made the call based on the responses you all gave to our survey back in February (thank you for participating!) and increased access to the vaccine: We’ll be holding Miss Fisher Con in person in Richmond, VA from July 15-17, 2021! Members can register now (not a member? Join ACotA!), and we’ll open registration to the general public on May 8, 2021.
We’ll finally get to enjoy the gorgeous Jefferson Hotel, and all of the delights of Richmond. Of course, there will be some adjustments, given *waves hand* everything that’s going on, including:
We’ll be limiting in-person attendees to 90 to make sure that we have plenty of social distance. (That means there aren’t too many slots left, so if you want to join us, don’t delay!)
Masks will be required at all indoor activities except dining at the masquerade and high tea
We’ll continue to monitor Virginia’s virus protection protocols, and we’ll be complying with those down the line.
We will also be providing a limited (both in scope and in availability) number of virtual seats for this con! We’re still finalizing details on this offering, but here’s what we know now:
Initially, there will only be 30 seats for this offering.
Some sessions will be offered live, others will be prerecorded and made available on our website. Not all sessions will be available virtually.
Will include the opportunity to participate in the costume parade & contest at the Masquerade, including a special virtual attendee costume prize.
Access to our virtual vending room with exclusive items and discounts.
Members’ registration price will be $100; nonmember price is $150.
Given our druthers, we’d much rather have everyone there in person, but this might give a glimmer of what Miss Fisher Con and the community that comes together to celebrate the Phryneverse is like. We really hope that y’all will join us for this year’s festivities!
We look forward to lounging in the Jefferson Hotel's grand lobby with like-minded Miss Fisher Con attendees.
Want more details about the con?
Our Miss Fisher Con 2021 webpage is where you’ll find everything we’re ready to share, including the planned sessions, information on how to volunteer, special discounts from our online vendors, room registration information at the Jefferson, and more. Come visit our website and catch up!
And don’t forget to follow us on social media! We’re on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and Facebook, and we’d love to see you there. We also have a Redbubble store where every purchase helps to keep the lights on. Our members even have access to an ACotA Slack instance where they can get to know folks before heading to con to meet up in person.
Are you a fan of the books?
You probably already know about Death in Daylesford, the new full-length Phryne Fisher adventure, which will be available for North American audiences starting June 3. And we’re pleased to announce that Kerry Greenwood’s North American publisher Poisoned Pen Press is now a Miss Fisher Con sponsor!
And in case you haven’t heard, Kerry Greenwood recently announced a new anthology of re-edited Phryne Fisher short stories that includes four brand new short stories. The volume is called “The Lady with the Gun Asks the Questions.” No word yet on when it will be available internationally, but it’s already available in Australia!
Get ready for Miss Fisher MOD series 2!
It's nearly time - Indiewire reports that AcornTV will be launching the further adventures of Peregrine, Steed, and their friends on June 7, 2021!
