9:00 am - 10:00 am Fandom, Feminism, and Sexuality || Cassian Sparkes-Vian || North Ballroom
  The Miss Fisher fandom boasts a fabulous collection of feminists ready to follow in Phryne’s footsteps and fight the good fight for women’s rights. The history of fandom and feminism has long been intertwined. In this session, we’ll review the history from the earliest fan conventions and fanzines of the 1960s to modern fan fiction and the complex relationshiop between women, fandom, and sexual expression.

10:15 am - 11:30 am La Francophonie à la Louisiane || Ryan Wadsworth & Hilary Dixon || North Ballroom
  Explore the history of the French language in Louisiana, including why it’s spoken here, regional differences, and how it connects to Canada. We’ll talk about the Francophone culture of the 1920s, and how the Miss Fisher verse portrayed the language. You may even learn some French to try on your New Orleans adventures!

1:15 pm - 2:45 pm Celebrity interview & signing session: Nathan Page || North Ballroom
  Our own Adventuress Mary Holste will interview Nathan. He has also agreed to a signing session, so be sure to bring something for him to sign!
2:45 pm - 3:00 pm Break
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Dance break: Minnie the Moocher || Masie Irene Lancaster || North Ballroom
  We’ll learn a choreographed dance routine (jazz, shimmy, and more) to this classic Cab Calloway song. Wear your dancing shoes (or any comfortable shoe) and get ready to cut a rug! No partner necessary.
4:00 pm - 6:30 pm Break & Soirée prep
6:30 pm – 10:00 pm Big Easy Soirée banquet & dancing || South Ballroom
  Fine dining in your finery! Attendees will receive a survey to choose their entree for this plated dinner in the coming weeks. You’ll have time to pose in front of our Wardlow backdrop before dinner and show off those dance moves after. In addition, Nathan will be sitting for another (limited) signing session for those who didn’t get an autograph earlier in the day.

9:00 am - 10:00 am Miss Fisher’s Finery - Hat Fashion of the 1920s || Pamela Wilkerson || North Ballroom
  Hats are an essential part of Miss Fisher’s signature style. Learn about fashion evolution and societal changes from the Edwardian era to the Jazz age with Pamela Wilkerson, a collector of vintage hats and London-trained milliner. Pamela will discuss choosing a flattering hat for yourself, hat sizing tips, and hat care. Be like Miss Fisher and wear more hats!

11:00 am - noon Surveilance, Secrets & Seduction: WWI’s Sorority of Spies || Jeneen Preciose || North Ballroom
  Intelligent women do have their uses, Inspector. Meet the clandestine heroines of the Great War’s Allies and Central Powers. Often left out of the history books, these remarkable women risked it all for their country and turned the tides of the war. Celebrate the bravery of Louise de Bettignies, discover the treachery of the real Fräulein Doktor, and unravel the mythology of the Mata Hari.

  We get a glimpse at the world of fan dancing and burlesque in Season 2 Episode 1. How accurate was it? What is the history of fan dancing and burlesque in Australia vs. the United States. What even IS burlesque?
1:00 pm - 1:15 pm Closing remarks || North Ballroom
~1:45 pm - ~2:30 pm Second Line parade || South Ballroom
  We'll start in the courtyard and do a short outdoor parade in honor of Irma Martin, our con committee chair. For this short parade is a celebration of life, so prepare to dance to a traditional New Orleans band and do Irma proud.
2:30 pm - 4:00 pm Break || On your own
4:00 pm - 6:30 pm Mardi Gras party || Belle Époque
  Join us for an evening of fellowship and live jazz at Belle Époque, a part of the Jean Lafitte Old Absinthe House, across the street from the con hotel. This event is not included in your con registration, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Reserve your spot
7:00 pm curtain Van Ella Bordella: A Storyville Burlesque
  Grab a taxi or a rideshare to jump to a local theatrical storytelling burlesque experience featuring top-tier, multitalented performers. This event is not included in your con registration, and space is limited. You’ll book your tickets through their website (be sure to choose July 20, 2024), but use code MissFisher for 20% off!
