| On Saturday July 20, after the con is over, we’ll be spending the early evening (4:00 to 6:30 pm) at Belle Époque, an historic bar that’s just steps away from the Royal Sonesta. Part of the Jean Lafitte Old Absinthe House, it has roots that go back to the early 1800s, including time as a speakeasy during Prohibition. It’ll be an evening of fun, fellowship, and live jazz, all with a Mardi Gras theme. Light hors d'oeuvres will be available as part of the entry fee, and there’ll be a cash bar complete with signature cocktails to celebrate our fandom. Tickets are $50/person (this event is not included in your con registration), and spaces are limited. The bar itself is two stories, but we’re working to make the event as accessible as possible for all. |
And if you’re still ready to celebrate into the evening, we invite you to follow our event with a local one, the Van Ella Bordella: A Storyville Burlesque. The show is a theatrical storytelling burlesque experience featuring top-tier, multi-talented performers. It will feature “comedy, live music, singing, and an exciting mix of solo and group performances”, and we hope to see you there! With a curtain time of 7:00 pm, you’ll want to grab an Uber or a taxi for the 8-minute drive to the venue.
