News from the Wireless

January 11, 2020

Hi there, fellow Miss Fisher fans!

It’s been a wild ride this last couple of weeks - before we get into fandom news, though, we want to send out our heartfelt good wishes for all of the folks who are affected by the fires in Australia. And for anyone who wants to help, but isn’t sure how, here’s a list of organizations you can donate to. (ACotA does not endorse any of the organizations listed.)
Now, on to Miss Fisher! The final showing of Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears at the Palm Springs International Film Festival is sold out! We hope that the turnout for the festival will send a solid message to Acorn about how well a theatrical release of this movie would do, and that it results in the movie appearing in theaters all over North America.

If you want to let Acorn know how much you want to see it, go to their TwitterFacebook, and Instagram to comment and like and all that stuff, or go straight to their website’s contact page to tell them how you feel. The more they hear from the fans, the more they’ll understand the reach this movie will have. (There’s still no news about distribution outside North America, but maybe the buzz will help speed things along. Fingers crossed!)

In Palm Springs, Nathan and Essie got to meet Flat Phryne at last! They were both very interested in her adventures - have you been following along on our Instagram @adventuresses_club_americas? || Photos courtesy of two of our board members, Mary Clements and Cara Pettite (pictured with  Nathan at right).

Get involved with con

There are lots of opportunities to be a part of Miss Fisher Con - we are a fan-run volunteer organization, and we’d love it if more folks would join us in our mission to foster community around the Miss Fisher universe. Here are a few ways you can be a part of it all:

  • Be a vendor. Every year, we have a set of curated vendors at the con whose wares fit the Miss or Ms. Fisher eras; items range from costumes and jewelry to scents and home goods. If you want to set up a table, please go to our vendor page to apply. Time is running out, though - applications must be received by January 15!
  • Run a session. Our speakers are all volunteers who want to share topics they’re passionate about. Topics must relate to the Miss or Ms. Fisher eras and incorporate a link to the shows, books, or movie; that said, we are open to just about anything! If you want to be a speaker, please submit your session proposal - all proposals must be in by February 1, so don’t delay!
  • Be on the board. Any member of the Adventuresses’ Club can be on the board or nominate a member for the board. If you have a passion for keeping this organization running, or you know someone who does, we want to hear from you! Right now, we are actively seeking a new vendor coordinator for the 2021 Miss Fisher Con in addition to replacements for board members who will be moving on after the 2020 con. Help us keep Miss Fisher Con going - contact us today! (And if you’re not a member yet, we hope you’ll join us!)
That’s all the news for now - stay safe out there, and we hope to see you at Miss Fisher Con!
